So we set out to find out why are these off-shore internet marketers are targeting Australian regional businesses. We’ve tested 565 regional business websites using Googles tools to date. Only 17 passed…. 548 FAILED… Find what’s causing that and you’ve got the answer.

Who Am I and Why You Should Listen to Me

Hi my name is Neil Mayger.. I was born and lived most of my life in country NSW. After finishing school I luckily got a job with Rupert Murdoch as a “copy boy” in Sydney.

Like many of my classmates I had to leave my family for the “big smoke”. But I couldn’t wait to get back to country life. I’ve experienced how the big corporations rip the unity out of a regional community. Now my home town population has shrunk.

Now you’ll understand why Dick Smith’s video, had such a profound effect on me.

Never Give Up -There’s Always a Solution

Necessity started my successful career in direct marketing. First studying Claude Hopkins, David Ogilvy and Dan Kennedy. Then… 1991, mentored by Jay Abraham, in direct marketing. After which I had many $million sales and marketing campaigns. Feb1999, I studied internet marketing with Corey Rudl, because I felt it would be the channel of the future. Today I have 40+ years direct marketing experience on and offline.

Three years ago Dick Smith’s video was bugging me. Why are Overseas Internet Marketers (OIM) targeting regional NSW and Victoria? So we started analysing regional business websites. The answer was soon obvious.. Of the 565 websites we’ve analysed so far using Googles tools, only 17 websites pass. I was shocked But why?

  1. Local business owners with low Internet Marketing knowledge and skills.
  2. No local 1-on-1 internet marketing support.
  3. Low budget for internet marketing.

The OIM saw our regional areas as “low hanging fruit” where they’d get the most gain for the least competition.


Overseas Internet Marketers are targeting regional NSW and Victorian areas. The funds from their sales, never land in our local economies or Australia. That has the following effect.

  1. Reduces sales for locally owned businesses.
  2. Creates regional job losses, even local business closures.
  3. Increase in unemployment dependency who spend less.
  4. Shrinking population, falling real estate values.
  5. Decline in basic services and infrustructure ie bank, hospital, hotels restaurants, shops, police, fire, electricity and lots more…

Another short story: Some people you can’t help. A local business owner told me he did not believe in marketing. He was entitled to his opinion right or wrong. A year later that business sold at auction for 25% of it’s potential value.

However, there are a number of small “mum & pop” local businesses that when to sold to new owners absolutely exploded.
One in a small country town of 6,720 using SEO internet marketing globally, grew that business from 2 employees to 140. That’s just one example of a few.

Another, in a small village with a population of 285, I took a business from $275k pa to $1.8 million p.a. in sales. Plus I did it for 6 consecutive years.
